~Trojan Classic~ Pixie gets 1st All Around!!

Well, this was her last meet for several weeks and she did really well! It wasn't as strong a meet as her other two this season but it was her highest all around score to date! We are very proud of her :)

Her scores were:

  • Vault ~ 9.25
  • Bars ~ 9.45
  • Beam ~ 9.55
  • Floor ~ 9.40
All Around ~ 1st Place

She is still uptraining for Level 5 and has all the skills but her coaches decided to compete her in Level 4 all season. They said it would be a good confidence booster and it has been. She got 1st place All Around at every meet so far. I think the hard part is trying to get her to understand that it may not always work out that way, haha! But who knows she could certainly prove me wrong as she has on several occasions!

Here is the video from the meet:

Well She Did It Again! ~1st Place All Around!~

Pixie's gym hosted the meet and it is their 44th annual invitational. The longest gym hosted meet in the US and it was a BIG one! There were 23 girls competing in her age group but that didn't phase her at all!!

She left with:

  • 1st on Floor
  • 1st on Bars
  • 2nd on Vault
  • 2nd on Beam
1st All Around!

Steve Nunno's Zoo Review ~ Pixie's First Meet of Season

Well, she got her first meet of the season under belt. It was a wild road trip to the meet but we made it! On the way we hit a railroad tie in the middle of the road and blew out two of our tires. We had to get a tow-truck and take it to my dad's. Then rent a car from the airport. By the time we got to the hotel it was around 3:00 / 3:30 in the morning and we had to be at the gym at 7:45. We didn't get much sleep!

You wouldn't know it by the way Pixie performed. She got 1st place all around!
Her scores were:

Floor: 9.1 ~ 1st place
Vault: 9.5 ~ 2nd place
Bars: 9.2 ~ 3rd place
Beam: 9.6 ~ 1st place

All Around: 37.4 ~ 1st place!!

Level 4 Gymnastics Season in Review

Blood, Sweat & Tears

Pixie's first real rip. She's officially a big girl gymnast, haha! A couple of weeks ago she got a rip while doing kips. She was very brave about the whole thing. In fact, she was really proud of her battle scar...grinning ear to ear when I picked her up from gymnastics.

She still wont be getting grips. That's a right of passage given only to "official" Level 5's. So, she may get plenty more rips before all is said and done.

I'm not so sure she'll be smiling after she gets more! If the worst she gets are rips, this season, I can live with that...

Sunfest Gymnastics Exhibition

<----- Click the pics to super size!
This past weekend Pixie's gymnastics club held an exhibition at the Sun Festival. The girls got to show off a few of their skills in routines set to music. It was really cute. We forgot the video camera. So, no video. But we took some pictures of her. Enjoy!

Oklahoma State Championship Gymnastics Meet Level 4

Pixie's State meet was May 2nd in Oklahoma City at Dynamo's (Shannon Miller's old gym). Seating wasn't sufficient, haha! We were all packed in there like sardines with many more standing and some in their lawn chairs below the bleachers. We got there early and picked the seats all the way at the top which was the best vantage point.

Pixie was so excited to be able to go to state her first season as a USAG level 4 gymnast and was looking forward to going. She loves to compete! Which is so strange considering how shy she is but when she's out there on the gym floor she is a little ham!! She was showing off a bit for grandma and granddad, I think :)

  • vault ~ 9.325
  • bars ~ 9.175
  • beam ~ 9.40
  • floor ~ 9.275

She came in 2nd place all around out of 19 girls in her age division! I was shocked when they called her name. I knew she did well but I had no idea. I figured she would fall in around 5th place or so but she showed me!!

Sectionals ~ 4/4/09

She had a blast! Her routines were all very solid. She did miss her dismount on beam which didn't help her all around score but she still qualified for states by a hefty margin! Her coaches made her do 50 dismounts on Monday after the meet. She wasn't too thrilled about that, haha!

Here are her scores:

  • bars ~ 9.225 (5th place out of 17)
  • beam ~ 8.375 (did not place)
  • floor ~ 9.275 (2nd place)
  • vault ~ 9.5 (2nd place)

Her all around score was 36.375 and she came in 7th place out of 17. Not too bad factoring in the fall. As her coach said it's better to get that out of the way and not at states. Of course we are proud of her and her coaches are so proud of her as well!

~Uptraining~

In gymnastics we have been working level 5 stuff. I am learning kips on the bars and level 5 vault and roundoff back handspring back handspring and cartweels on the beam. I have fun doing them. I hope I get them!

(this was written by Pixie. I helped her to understand how to write the blog and got her started but she wanted to write the entry. At first, I helped her with the grammar & punctuation but then I figured since this is her blog I'll let her post as she pleases)

Finally Up & Running!

Pixie and I have been working on it and tweaking it for a little over a week. We wanted to start this blog so that all of her grandparents can check in on her when they want to. Sometimes we're hard to get a hold of, haha!! Feel free to leave her messages here. She loves hearing from all of her gparents! I've set this up so that you do not have to register to reply. It will leave messages as "anonymous" if you are not registered. So, if you don't plan on registering but want to leave her a message be sure to let her know who it's from.

Well, I have 3 videos still to make. I've fallen behind because somebody won't load them onto my computer. But as soon as I have the files I'll make the videos.
Here is Pixie's last video:
